Let the bear!
01.02.2016.
2 February is Candlemas Day. On this day we have many folk beliefs. Our ancestors used to think if on this day the weather is shiny, winter will last long. As the saying goes: „on Candlemas Day rather the wolf yell through the window than the sun shine.”
The most popular tradition on this day, however, belongs to the bears. It says when the bear comes out from the cave to take a break from its winter rest and sees its own shadow, winter will last long. If the weather is cloudy, the bear won’t come back to its cave as it’s going to look for some food. It means spring is very close.
Has real spring arrived yet? Let’s lure our brown bears, Borka and Dorka from their cave to find out.
